Extension & Refurbishment of Town House
About this project
It was the client’s desire to brighten their entrance making hall lighter, wider, seeing rear garden beyond extension when front door was opened.
The front reception room was removed by Seth Handley architect opening up the start of the hall, the remaining hall was widened with stair being pushed back, kitchen door made as wide as possible, extending it to ceiling. The new hall floor was tiled from front door to end of extension providing level access to garden and incorporating under floor heating.
The extension was made as tall as possible, concealing its beam within ceiling void, incorporating the largest remotely controlled roof-lights available. Sliding doors to garden were made as wide, tall as possible stretching from level access to garden to ceiling level.
The kitchen was to be high key with worktop returning to floor providing bookends to island and low iron toughened glass mirror splash back with inset chrome sockets to visually widen the space. Remotely controlled roof-lights were incorporated 2nd floor to bathroom, en-suite and stair well.
